In Paris, I travelled to Gare de Lyon and took the bullet train from Paris to Zurich. The train station was nice. I took the TGV Lyria. I was sitting on the aisle seat and this guy came sat next to me and mentioned he was suppose to sit in the aisle. I didn’t budge showed him the ticket then he apologized and sat next to me.
We got to talking and he was travelling in Spain and returning to Zurich. He recommended me Lucerne to visit in Switzerland. I landed in Zurich and asked a few people for directions as the language was swiss! It was very hard to navigate at first. Then things started coming together. Thank God for YouTube instructions! I went to a machine inserted my destination, got the ticket and headed on a train there.
I was staying at Zurich Youth Hostel. When I reached there, a very friendly person checked me in. She had blonde hair, very energetic, just a beautiful vibrant woman that gave out wonderful vibes. She gave me a map and recommended me to do the city tour to explore Zurich. I made my way to my room. I met a Egyptian traveller there who barely spoke English. I asked him to show me where the washroom is and luckily the washrooms were separate and had separate showers as well. The guy was asking anxiously if I knew Arabic , had no SIM, did not know where to go.
I told him we can go out for dinner together in the evening. Dinner was good, we had kebab rolls, they did not give us much rice but the bread was nice. I specially loved the hummus and the different sauces they had. I had Swiss cola, which felt much more fresher and tastier than the coke I am use to drinking. We went around the town and took pictures as well. The tram was nice to use.
The second day I went on a city tour. I met a guide in the city centre along with my Egyptian friend. He had a dog with him. There were other people who joined the tour. It was a pay as you can city tour. He showed us around the credit banks, architecture and historical fountains. Switzerland is a beautiful country I have to admit, the architecture, landscape, the rivers, it was wonderful to be there. Following the tour, we went to Lucerne. It was expensive I recall to go there around $200. We went around the city crossed the wooden bridge, looked at the different artifacts. The train ride there was nice too. When we got there it was unfortunately raining but I was wearing a rain jacket so it was good for the most part. It had great scenery, then we had some kebobs and rice at a Lebanese restaurant, cost us around 40 dollars each. We took the train back to the hostel.
Next day, I had booked the excursion to Jungfraujoch, tallest point in Europe. We took a bus ride there. We used the gondola and some trains to go up the mountain. I met some cool people there and we had great conversations. I took some photos of the sphinx observatory. The scenery was heavenly. After doing the Swiss alps, taking the tiger express, I came back to my hostel, took a shower and decided to go downstairs and chill in the hostel lobby. I met a fellow traveler from Abu Dhabi and we went out to the club district in Zurich and had some sheesha. Then we had some shawarma wraps and headed back to the hostel.
